Capstone Projects

May4

Our class worked really hard all year long on these projects, so although it’s a little late, I still wanted to showcase their awesome projects. We read If you Hopped like a Frog by David Schwartz, which has all kinds of amazing animal abilities. We used these animal facts to calculate how far we could jump, how much we could swallow, how fast we could run, etc. if we had these abilities. For example a flea can jump approximately 70 times its own height, which means that the average fifth grader (for our class 145cm) would be able to spring up to 10,150 cm into the air or 101.5 m. So we could hop from the ground onto the torch of the Statue of Liberty which stands 93m above the ground. That’s pretty cool!!! These projects showcase our findings.
